I am not a book critique, and I am certainly not an expert on what books are the best,
however, I do know a good book when I read one. I sat and read this book from start to finish and wished there
was more of it to read! That is how much I enjoyed this book and not only because I did the cover, that is only a bonus for me.
Steve and I met while I was searching for a handling and conformation class for my new Afghan Hound puppy.
I was told that a man in my area taught, or used to teach handling classes and was given the name Steve SeRine.
I looked through our local phone directory and found that name and called. The answering machine picked up and
when I heard that I had reached the home of Serenity Dobermans, I knew I had found the right people...not only
because this indicated a "dog" person and I wasn't sure on the spelling of his last name, but also being a believer
in fate, I knew it was right because my Afghan puppy is named Serenity.
I left my name and number and about a week later, Steve contacted me. He told me about his classes and all about himself.
I learned that he is an AKC judge and that he and his wife have raised Dobermans for 30 years. We talked awhile and he
let me know that if I couldn't make the classes, that he had a book coming out sometime in September. I told him that
I had done several book covers and understood the issues of a book coming out and all that can and does delay the process.
Immediately, Steve said the only thing holding them up was that they needed someone to do the cover. Of course I was
thrilled when he asked if I would be interested in doing the cover for his book. Before we hung up, Steve asked what my
puppy's name was and I told him Serenity. He chuckled at the coincidences we shared. In the mean time, I took his handling
classes and I can tell you, everything he says in the book WORKS! Steve has a wonderful way with dogs and he can teach anyone
with any breed of dog, how to handle and show their own dog and just as heart warming as he is in his book, he is this same way
in real life. I feel very fortunate to have met Steve and anyone who reads his book, will understand that. ~~Shelly
