Professional Dog Grooming, Photography and Portraits

Before I begin, please click this link  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRAbouZkhzo  to view the youtube video.  This video is the reason why ALL pet groomers need to be certified by a State recognized school.  If you think your pets are safe just because someone has a "grooming shop" think again.  The big retail grooming chains only offer 2 weeks of training.  It took me 12 weeks to get through school!  2 weeks is not nearly enough time to learn anything, especially proper pet grooming, which is so much more than just bathing an animal.  Proper use of equipment, proper handling of different breeds with different temperments, how to groom without muzzles and keeping you and the pet safe at all times.  That is just the beginning of learning professional pet grooming.

I will be up front in telling you, I do NOT charge $19.  Each pet is different and has different requirements and is charged accordingly.  I don't have a one rate price for every dog.

What I offer is much more than a $20 bath.  I offer you a piece of mind that your pet will be loved and cared for while in my care.  They will be completely groomed from head to toe and with Salon grade shampoos and conditioners.  I use only the best and so far, what I have found to be the best is  Isle of dogs systems. I also offer a shedless groom.  Ask for details!

Thank you for stopping in to my Doggie Doodles page!  This page is set up for my dog grooming business to give potential clients some inside information about me and what I do and have been doing to get to this point.

I attended the Animal Arts Academy of Pet Grooming and graduated as a Certified Dog Groomer.   Most people do not realize that many, if not most of the dog groomers out there, are not trained or certified to groom.  Soon it will be the law that anyone grooming dogs as a business, will have to be certified, just as anyone who works in a salon doing human hair.  I don't know many people who would trust anyone to cut their own human hair unless the stylist had been trained to do so and I myself, would not want anyone grooming my dogs who had not been trained properly.

I own 2 Afghan Hounds and 3 Pomeranians.  I had taken one of my Afghan's to a local shop, only to return and find her tied to a wall, muzzled and being forced to withstand excruciating pain from the "groomer"  ripping her hair out by the roots with a comb.  A huge pile of her once beautiful coat was laying in a pile on the floor. I was so sick to my stomach for having left her there.  I had asked them to clean out her ears, which they did and whatever they did to her ears, irritated them so much, I had to rush her from the shop to the vets office.   This was not dog grooming, but dog torture. Had this woman known what she was doing, she never would have needed the muzzle and my beautiful Afghan would not have had to endure any pain what so ever and her coat would have been more beautiful after the groom.

Had I known better at the time, I would have checked to see if this shop owner was certified in dog grooming, which they were not, and they are still not.  It has taken over a year for my Afghan's hair to grow back in.

What I learned at school will carry on to every dog I groom.  My instructor and director of the school is a very reputable business owner and a Certified Master Groomer.  School was not easy by any sense of the word.  What we do after school, in our own businesses, will reflect on her as a teacher and she did not pass everyone.  This is not a school where you can pay for certification, it's a school where you work hard to get certified, or you fail.  I am happy to say that I passed both of my final exams and was able to get certified. Whewww!

I promise that your beloved pet will be treated with love and respect and groomed the way you want them groomed.

I will do pick up and delivery for an extra fee.

I do groom out of my home at this time and will until I build up enough clientele to open a shop.  You are welcome to stay and watch, or drop your pet off.

Be sure to click on the slide show above in the navigation bar.  I have photos from class of the dogs I groomed.  School was 12 weeks long, so I did not get photos of every dog, but these are the ones I did get when I rememberd to bring my camera to class.
